First Leonardo da Vinci Golf Project 2011

Our first Leonardo da Vinci Golf Project 2011

Tenerife, “The land of Eternal Spring”, is an ideal golf destination so in 2011 the FU International Academy, in conjuntion with the Filton College’s Bristol Academy of Sports for elite athletes, planned an ambitious project to bring 12 young golfers to the island for work experience.

After a week’s intensive Spanish course at the FU Academy in Puerto de la Cruz  the students travelled south and did a weeks internship of each of the three golf couses – Golf del Sur, Golf Las Americas, and Abama Golf. Even after a hard day’s work they managed to find time to practise in the evening and on the last day a tournement was held at Golf del Sur followed by a farewell lunch.

The projects was a great succes for all concerned and each student was presented with a gift bag by the Tenerife Golf Association and the Golf course n return received gifts of Bristol Blue Glass from the Sports Academy director Lisa Godwin.

(Filton College is now called South Gloucestershire and Stroud College)
