FAQs

Organizing your mobility or internship might raise many questions, here we’ve answered the most common ones. Contact us if you still need help.

General Questions about VET Mobilities

  • Will there be homework?

    Some teachers may give assignments to be completed after class but usually, it’s not the case.

  • Will I get a certificate?

    Yes, participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of attendance that verifies their participation in the course, including the duration and hours completed.

  • Where do the workshops take place?

    The workshops take place in our academy in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.

  • What’s the average age of the students?

    The average age of our students is between 18 and 20.

  • What services does ERASMUS+ FOR VET LEARNERS offer?

    We take care of the work placements, accommodation, transportation, cultural activities, mentoring, 24-hour support, and documents.

  • What if I’m interested in different topics?

    Send us a message with your ideas and we will let you know if we can organize it for you.

  • What are the options for funding?

    EU grants are provided to the coordinating organization, which can be your institution or a consortium coordinator. These grants are intended to cover your travel and subsistence expenses while you are abroad, in addition to providing organizational support to the participating organizations.

  • What are the conditions if you want to enroll in our programme and you are younger than 18?

    The minimum age of our mobilities is 16 years old, if you are not 18 yet, you will need parental authorization.

  • Is accommodation and/or transfer included?

    We can organize accommodation in a shared apartment with other students or in an apart-hotel for you. As regards transfer, it can also be arranged for you. Both are for additional costs.

  • How often are the courses/mobility programs offered?

    We offer it all year round, any time when there is a request.

  • How does the registration process work?

    Your school coordinator has to get in contact with us.

  • Do I have any insurance?

    You need to purchase specific insurance for ERASMUS+ students in your country of origin.

Requierements

  • Are there any language requirements to join the courses and/or mobilities?

    Basic English skills are required.

  • Are there any academic/demographic requirements to join the mobility?

    You can only do internships in a field that is connected to your studies.

  • Are there any academic/demographic requirements to join the courses?

    No.

Internships

  • Who manages the formal internship process?

    Our team takes care of the processes and documents.

  • What happens if my starting date is coming but I still do not have the company to do my internship?

    Usually, you will know the name of your internship company 3 weeks before the starting date. If there is any problem, we will inform you in time and we will offer you alternative solutions. 

  • Is an internship paid or not paid?

    Most of our internships are not paid, but you can cover all your expenses with Erasmus+ funds.

  • If there is any problem with the company and the intern, how will it be solved?

    Our company will resolve any problems between the company and the intern, we are having continuous meetings both with the students and their mentors in order to detect any problem in time. If there is any misunderstanding we will organize a meeting and decide which further steps to take.

  • How do you organize the interviews with the companies?

    Most of the time you will have the interview with our team, as we are responsible for making the selection process for the companies.

  • Can I do curricular and extracurricular internship?

    We only organize curricular internships.

Activities

  • What leisure time/extra-curricular activities do you offer?

    We offer welcome breakfast every Monday, farewell every Friday, a visit to the Botanical Garden, salsa/bachata class, yoga class, surf, Spanish culture class, and beach volleyball. Sometimes we have more extra activities like excursions, wine tasting, or language exchanges (depending on the week). You will have updated information on Mondays.

  • What else can I do during my visit on the island?

    In your free time you can explore the island on your own, with students in the class or with other visitors. We can organize for your excursion to Teide National Park, whale and dolphin watching, small towns of Tenerife (Garachico, La Orotava), a day trip to another island - La Gomera, or a visit to Loro Parque or Siam Park.

  • Is there a gym near the school?

    There’s a gym in our building that offers special fees to our students. Once you have arrived, you can visit the gym and decide if you want to sign up.

  • Do I have to pay for the leisure activities?

    Visit the botanical garden, welcome breakfast, beach volleyball, salsa, yoga, and Spanish culture lessons are all free.

    There is an additional charge for the trial surf lesson and weekend excursions.

  • Can I bring a friend to one of the activities?

    You can bring a friend to the salsa lesson, yoga class, culture lesson and beach volleyball. Trial surf lessons are dependent on the number of participants. Please consult it at the reception when you arrive.

School

  • Where's the course taking place?

    All of our courses are held in our FU International Academy in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.

  • What's the daily program at the school?

    As our courses are very diverse, there is no particular schedule for all of them. Usually, the theoretical part happens from 09:00 to 13:00 with a coffee break of 15-30 minutes. At 13:00 there is a lunch break for one hour, and after that participants can work on the practical part working on their projects or practicing what they learned. The teacher will be there to answer questions.

    For some courses, the schedule will be different. For example, Spanish courses or Spanish for Teachers will have a slightly different schedule. The same happens with Stress Management courses, Motivation, Empathic Communication, etc.

  • What are your opening hours?

    The school’s reception is open from Monday to Friday from 08:45 until 16:00h.

  • What about the area where the school is? What else can I find in the neighborhood?

    The school is situated in the La Paz district, just across the street from the Botanical Garden. There are bars, restaurants, and supermarkets nearby the school. The area is well connected by bus, the bus stop Jardín Botánico is just in front of the school.

  • How far is the school from the beach?

    The lovely natural beach Playa Martiánez is within 18-minute walking distance from school and Playa Jardín is a 32-minute walk, while Playa El Bollullo is around 40 minutes away, but it would be a nice hike through the banana plantations.

Booking & Payment

  • When is the payment due?

    We require a deposit of 150€ to complete your registration for a course. The payment of the full course and accommodation amount can be made after registration if you wish. If not, you must pay the remaining balance at least 2 weeks before your arrival.

  • What's the cancellation policy?

    All cancellations must be made in written form. The cancellation date will be the date on which FU International Academy receives the written cancellation. We strongly recommend that you arrange insurance cover to protect yourself against the possibility of cancellation due to illness or accident.

    Cancellation fees (course and accommodation):

    • Up to 6 weeks before the start day - Full refund
    • Between 6 and 2 weeks before the start date - Deposit (€150)
    • 14 days or less before the start date - No refund

  • What type of credit cards do you accept?

    Visa and Mastercard.

  • What are your payment methods?

    You can either pay via PayPal or bank transfer.

  • How will I receive a confirmation of my reservation?

    After a reservation one of our team members will send you a confirmation email with all the necessary information. 

  • How long before the course do I have to sign up?

    The sign-up is open as soon as we announce the dates for the upcoming year. You can sign up at any point until we reach the maximum amount of students.

  • How far in advance should I book?

    We recommend booking your course as soon as you have decided to participate. Last minute bookings may be possible depending on the number of students in our courses.

  • How early should I book a course? Is it possible to book last minute, too?

Accommodation

  • Which accommodation options do you offer?

    We have an option of a shared apartment with other students, we can recommend you hotels, and apart-hotels, and for Spanish students we have an option of Host-Family stays. For more details click here.

  • Where can I look online to organise my own accommodation?

  • Where can I find photos of the accommodation types you offer?

  • What type of accommodation do you provide for groups?

    It is recommended that groups stay in hotels or aparthotels where two or three students will share the same studio.

  • What is the best time to arrive at my accommodation?

    Check-in is on Sundays, however extra nights can be booked on request.

  • Is it possible to change my accommodation type after my arrival?

    If you are not completely satisfied, you can request a change one time. It is subject to availability, of course.

  • Is accommodation and/or transfer included?

    No, accommodation and transfer are not included in the price but we can organize them for you additionally.

  • How many people will be in the shared apartment?

    Each apartment can accommodate up to four students.

  • How far away is the accommodation from the school?

    Depending on the type of accommodation, it can take 5-20 minutes to walk there.

  • How do I get the key to my apartment?

    Puerto de la Cruz has meeting points where you can pick up the key if you arrive on your own. If you have booked a transfer for your arrival, the driver will give you the apartment key.

    But don’t worry, with your booking confirmation and accommodation details, we will send you all the information you need.

  • Can I rent an apartment if I am not a student in your school?

    The accommodation service is only available for our students.

  • Are there any locals living in the shared apartments?

    No, only our students share the apartments.

  • Are meals included in the price?

    No, meals are not included. Although, for your convenience we have our own cafetería Fu Café in the school. There you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the break and a lunch menu after the classes.
