Boxers Hit Tenerife for Another Round

This is the 3rd time that the FU International Academy Tenerife is welcoming athletes of Bristol Academy of Sports from South Gloucestershire and Stroud College in Puerto de la Cruz. We started the Erasmus+ collaboration with them in 2012 and the project turned out to be an enjoyable tradition. Every year a big group of young boxers is visiting the island to learn some Spanish, to experience the Canary lifestyle and of course to train their boxing techniques in the SUN.

The group of 29 boys and 1 girl has arrived on Saturday evening and they have already started with the full packed programme of their journey. Sunday they visited the famous paradise of parrots, Loro Parque, and watched dolphins, orcas and sea lions in special shows and discovered the diverse reserves of exotic plant species.

This week they will assist Spanish classes at our school in the mornings, as well as take part in FU leisure activities and practice boxing during the afternoons. Monday they visited the Botanical garden next to our school and on Tuesday they completed successfully an altitude run on the Teide. This weekend the big adventure of Siam Park is awaiting them.

Next week they will start to train local students in the frame of their sport classes in British school and the public college Punta Brava in Puerto de la Cruz. The boxers are going to introduce the children in the basic boxing skills and moves. Beside they will take the challenge to do another altitude run and crossfit training sessions in the afternoons.

We wish the athletes much success and fun during their stay and hope, that although having a  busy schedule they will enjoy this unique experience in Tenerife to the fullest.
