You have probably heard that a big group of athletes from the United Kingdom conquered the largest of the Canary Islands. But don’t you worry, they’re only here to learn some Spanish and to lead a training with students from local schools.
FU International Academy Tenerife has had a partnership with the Bristol Academy of Sports since 2012 through the Erasmus mobility programmes, which are now called Erasmus+. Since then we have had the honor of welcoming three different groups of young people interested in boxing to our school. Every year in addition to their training we try to present them with the specific traditions, food and attractions of the colorful Tenerife.
The boxers have already completed the first challenge, as they took part in our one week Spanish course, so now they know several basic verbs, nouns and adjectives, parts of the body and the greeting formulas used on the island. Next week they will start boxing trainings with students from two of the local schools, Colegio Público Punta Brava and British School of Tenerife.
This week they visited Loro Parque, took a tour in the Botanical Garden of Puerto de la Cruz and had an excursion to our well known volcanic mountain, the Teide. And on top of all these activities they trained almost every afternoon.
The enthusiastic players haven´t been bored during the weekend either – they went fighting the slides of the Siam Park, known as the most spectacular theme park with water attractions all of Europe.
Now they can start their second week in Tenerife charged with a lot of fun and a basic knowledge of Spanish language. We wish them much fun!
