Two tutors from South West College in Enniskillen were not too sad to leave the freezing temperatures in Northern Ireland for a four day visit to Tenerife in the last week of March 2013. The object of the trip was to visit our language Academy and look at hotels with a view to sending foundation degree students for EU Erasmus funded internships in the summer. While at the Academy they spoke to the Director of Studies, Daphne Lopez, and learned about our Cervantes Institute accredited Spanish courses, they met the staff responsible for coordinating the international programme. It was a busy few days as they visited three hotels in the north of Tenerife: Hotels Botánico, Las Aguilas, and Parque San Antonio, and three in the south: H10 Big Sur, H10 Tinerfe and Paradise Park Hotel. Also on the agenda was a visit to our student accommodation, a tour of a local vineyard Bodega Monje and La Casa del Vino, wine museum and dinner as El Bodegita de Tito, to taste some of the local Canarian delicacies. Due to the Easter holiday they had one day’s rest before heading north again, grateful to have seen the sun for five consecutive days!
