The number of successful projects that we have with the Bristol Academy of Sports of the South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is growing continuously. On the 12th of August, we welcomed six fencers and their coaches from United Kingdom. This collaboration forms part of an Erasmus+ project in which the participants will spend two weeks on the island improving their Spanish language skills and training with local children during their summer camp.
The young athletes started their Spanish classes the day right after their arrival on the island. During these 10 intense classes, they were able to learn about the most important phases and words used in everyday life, the body parts as well as some specific terms regarding the fencing activities. On the weekend however, the participants visited the famous Loro Parque.
On Monday, they started their internship at the summer camp, which is organized for local children during their summer holidays. There, the fencers have to work with pupils aged 4 to 12 years old. Some of the kids already attended the fencing courses last year, so the athletes had to deal with both beginners and advanced course participants. We are sure that they will do a good job!
This weekend an amazing Siam Park trip awaits them. Have fun guys!
